PayPal Standard takes customers from your site to PayPal’s secure site to finish paying for their order.
PayPal Payments Standard is PayPal’s easiest and even more popular way to accept credit cards online. As well as PayPal Payments Standard enables merchants and partners to offer a streamlined checkout experience to customers using mobile devices.
If the merchant has previously integrated PayPal Payments Standard, the mobile-optimized checkout experience is automatically available to their customers without any additional integration steps or effort. While new merchants, they simply integrate with PayPal Payments Standard and get all the benefits of a mobile-optimized checkout solution for customers who make purchases on mobile devices.
Requirements PayPal Payments Standard
- A PayPal Business Account Go to Paypal.com and signs up for a PayPal Change the Business account or an existing personal account to a business. It’s free.
Setup and Configuration PayPal Payments Standard on Woocommerce
1. Go To: WooCommerce > Settings > Payment.
Note: Payment is formerly called ‘Checkout’ before WooCommerce 3.4.
2. To use PayPal, use the toggle under Enable.
3. Then Select Set Up. You are taken to the PayPal Standard settings.
4. Enter your email address in the PayPal email field, which is the most important thing to configure before making a payment. Your PayPal Business account must match the same email address.
Under the advanced options, the entire area as needed.
5. Box Enable PayPal Sandbox for Tick If you want to test the checkout process during the development of your store. With the sandbox enabled, no payment/money is taken. To use Sandbox mode, you need a separate sandbox account through PayPal sandbox.
6. Debug logs can also be turned on, which can be useful during development. Then You may first need to set permissions for the WC-log folder to create and right on it. These logs are available on WooCommerce and System Status & Logs and then select PayPal to log from the dropdown.
7. Box for tick Enable IPN email notifications (optional). When you receive payment, instant payment notifications (IPN) are sent from Paypal, while issuing a refund or refund or cancellation.
8. Receiver Mail for entering Email Address if this address is different from the PayPal email address you enter in step 4.
9. PayPal identification token (optional). Only when you have signed up for a data transfer option on your PayPal account. If you have an IPN problem then payments can be used to verify.
10. Enter one Invoice Prefix (Useful if you have multiple stores). WC is the default to denote WooCommerce transactions.
Some More Details
11. There are two shipping options:
- Send shipping details to PayPal. You can choose to send shipping details to PayPal for WooCommerce to create shipping labels instead of billing.
- Address Override Options. PayPal verifies the address so this setting can cause errors. We recommend keeping it inactive, but it can be useful in preventing address information from changing.
12. Payment Actions allows you to choose an instant or only cash capture * *.
* Once ‘only to authorize’ the order has been changed to be processed or completed, as long as you have WooCommerce > Settings > Payment > PayPal. It is no longer a manual process such as WooCommerce 3.0.
13. Page style (optional) Allows you to choose the name of a custom page from your PayPal account.
14. Image URL (optional) PayPal gives the option to specify 150 × 50 images to display on checkout pages.

Configuring PayPal Payments Standard Dashboard
Most configurations with WooCommerce, but there are some items to set up in PayPal.
PayPal IPN URL
WooCommerce requires setting up your PayPal IPN URL.
PayPal Instant Payment Notification (PayPal IPN) as well as tells your store that payment has been successful (or not). To learn more about how to set it up on PayPal: How to activate the IPN in your PayPal account.
Then In your PayPal Business account: Profile > Profile and Settings > My sales tool. Click on Quick Payment Notifications to set your URL.

Then you can set auto-return to your PayPal account, which will take customers to the receipt page. For example, use the following URL and replace www.example.com with your own URL:
Despite this setting, it dynamically redirects to the correct receipt page.
At the end of your URL? Add Utm_nooverride = 1 Make sure transactions (i.e., conversion) are deposited in the original traffic source rather than PayPal.
