But by default WordPress does not allow you to upload SVG file format.

Today in this article I will tell you how to upload SVG Image format in WordPress.

What are SVG Images

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a file format that defines vector-graphics using an XML markup language. Usually, their file size is low and the retina does not pixelate on the screen.

It is commonly used by websites and brands to display logos and icons on websites. SVG is very popular among developers and designers. This format is currently supported by all major browsers and mobile browsers.

What is the benefit of using SVG?

Some benefits of using SVG Image Format are:

SVG images have smaller file sizes than JPEGs or PNG, which helps your site load faster and reduce the page size.
It is easily scalable in both browser and photo editing tools. If you zoom in, it does not pixelate and the quality also does not deteriorate. But if you zoom a png/jpeg image file, you will see that the image will start blurring and pixelate.
You can animate the SVG file using CSS.
It is commonly used for icons, icon fonts, website logos, and branding images.
So far everything was fine but SVG files are a bit unsafe. This is why WordPress does not support SVG file uploads by default.
